Hello. It's Been So Long...
Hey all. Sorry it's been such a long hiatus. I was kinda over Scrabble for a bit and then fed up at work. But now as the winter thaw sets in, I'm preparing to come out of my hibernation. First on my agenda, MUSIC.
Here's just a big clusterfuck list of what I'm listening to, who I've bought tickets to check out, what's on my music radar in general...so in no particular order:
The New Pornographers, Daft Punk, Girl Talk, Man Man, Yeasayer, Vampire Weekend, The Long Blondes, Made in Mexico, Explosions in the Sky, the Flaming Lips, Hanne Hukkelberg, Tom Vek, Okkervil River and some super secret hipster shit that's so cool, I can't even discuss it here.

...that last bit was pure sarcasm. But hey look there you are. Here I am. Welcome back!

Thanks for reminding me to get tickets to the Man Man - Yeasayer show... Oh good. It's not sold out yet.

Wooot indeed! I'm going to see them at the Pitchfork Music festival. Though, the highlight of that weekend will be seeing Public Enemy perform "it takes a nation of millions to hold us back" in its entirety on friday night.

Yeah! Okkervil River! They are pretty much my favorite band still around. They haven't come to Cleveland since 5/5/05, but I've seen them twice. SO GOOD.

I believe Ministry is on their farewell concert tour and playing in Chicago in early May.

I'd completely be there if I was going to be in the country. :(

The hot ticket is gonna be El-P, Dizzee Rascal & Busdriver at the Abbey 5-15. Oh man. I'm still up in the air about the Saul Williams show and now I have to think about this here Man Man show, but almost nothing could keep me from the show on 5-15. So much music, so little money.

What's up with making fun of my "scene" comment. Is there any inside joke I'm missing here?

No, no fun-making going on... make it a scene means get a crew together and rock out en masse.

Damn! That will be a good show. The Abbey's a good venue for hip hop too. I saw a phenomenal MF Doom show there a few years ago.

And apparently Erica and I share birthdays. Mine is also the 16th.

Sounds like the "scene" is amassing already! And hey David, it's a pleasure to share a birthday with you. I've got a twin, so I already have some experience in sharing a birthday. ;)

Do you have the newest Busdriver album. It's pretty dang sweet, and El-P's album is probably my favorite (at least top 3) of 2008.

Gonna get Busdriver now. But yeah, I been rocking El-P since it came out and it still stays in heavy rotation on my 1GB iPod Nano. That says a lot....

I downloaded Cosmic Cleavage last month from eMusic and haven't really gotten into it. I don't think he's newest one is on eMusic?

I should probably get Dizzee Rascal's most recent album as well. Boy in the Corner and Showtime are both really good.
